Folk standards, catchy choruses, belting rhythms, and tunes to make the heart sing.
Hebble are an eclectic world folk band with an unusual set of instruments that play lively, international traditional music in multiple languages. Hebble are Greek Bouzouki, Bodhran, and Cello + 3 vocals. We play English, Czech, Polish, Irish, Scottish, and Appalachian folk music. We also have a handful of original songs inspired by Yorkshire myth and landscape. Upbeat and alternative with twists of jazz, and plenty of three-part harmonies.
Helena Drumm
Helena is a cellist extraordinaire who has the capability of giving you all the deep, low crunch the cello provides in its darkest hours, whilst also having the skill to play tunes mostly associated with fiddle and mandolin. She has been performing and teaching the cello and music for 20+ years. With Hebble, Helena shines brightly. You'll be coming up to her after the gig in awe of her performance.
Sam Hodgson
Singer, guitarist and bouzouki player Sam Hodgson is a professional community musician who has worked 10 years with kids and adults in hard to reach settings across the north of England. His voice ranges from that of a grough blues man to a light feather. He is currently studying the bouzouki through an ACE grant with Pete Coe and Anestis Sa.
Aidan Kilroy
His charisma, charm, and lilting vocals are sure to lull you into a false sense of security before you hear his bodhran. It's as if a full kit sits behind stage as he gives you the thumping bass of a kick and the high rolls more commonly heard by a thousand galloping horses. Hear the bodhran like you rarely do - as a versatile, multi-tembred, semi-tuned instrument.
"From the very first tune, they had the audience eating out of their hands. Every time they kicked off another song or tune, the expectation of ' what now?' was palpable. Not only are they superb musicians, the warmth and humour of each personality shines through on stage. I cant wait to get these guys back."
